Chicken Cordon Bleu with Swiss Cheese Sauce is a delightful dish that combines tender chicken, savory turkey, and creamy Swiss cheese, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 slices deli-style turkey
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound until about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Lay two slices of turkey and one slice of Swiss cheese on each flattened chicken breast, then roll tightly and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
  4. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs mixed with milk, and breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder.
  5. Coat each chicken roll in flour, dip in the egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat and cook chicken rolls for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  8. Prepare Swiss cheese sauce by melting remaining butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then gradually add milk and Swiss cheese until smooth.
  9. Serve chicken rolls drizzled with the Swiss cheese sauce.

Notes

  • Choose quality ingredients for the best flavor.
  • Don’t skip the pounding of the chicken for even cooking.
  • Season generously for enhanced flavor.
  • Use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  • Let the chicken rest after baking for juiciness.
