Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray, for greasing waffle iron

Instructions

  1. Preheat waffle iron and lightly grease with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs and stir in buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix gently until combined; batter will be slightly lumpy.
  5. Pour batter onto preheated waffle iron and spread evenly.
  6. Close waffle iron and cook 3–5 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Carefully remove waffle and serve hot with favorite toppings.
  8. Repeat with remaining batter.
  9. Clean waffle iron after cooling.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, keep cooked waffles warm in a 200°F (93°C) oven on a wire rack while finishing the rest.
