Ingredients
Scale
- For the Sauce
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/3 cup beef broth
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes
- For the Stir Fry
- 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
- 1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed and sliced into thin strips
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup water
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Make the sauce: In a medium bowl whisk together soy sauce and cornstarch until smooth. Add beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Whisk well and set aside.
- Bring a medium pot of water to a boil and cook ramen noodles for 2–3 minutes until just tender. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Toss with 1 teaspoon sesame oil to prevent sticking.
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season steak with salt and pepper and add to skillet. Cook about 3 minutes without moving to brown, then stir and cook 2 more minutes until cooked through. Remove steak and drain excess grease.
- Add remaining tablespoon olive oil to the skillet along with broccoli. Pour in 1/2 cup water and cover. Steam broccoli for about 2 minutes until bright green and tender.
- Return the steak to the skillet along with the cooked ramen noodles.
- Stir the sauce and pour into the skillet. Toss everything together with tongs while the sauce cooks for 1–2 minutes until everything is coated and heated through.
- Serve immediately garnished with sesame seeds.
Notes
- Slice steak thinly against the grain for the most tender texture.
- Do not overcook the ramen noodles since they will finish cooking in the stir fry.
- You can substitute chicken or shrimp instead of beef if desired.
