All the best parts of a juicy cheeseburger, served up in a bowl with crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, pickles, avocado, and a quick homemade burger sauce. Hearty, customizable, and weeknight-friendly—no bun required.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • Burger Meat:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Burger Bowl:
  • 4 cups chopped green lettuce
  • ½ cup grape tomatoes, sliced
  • ¼ cup dill pickle, chopped
  • ¼ cup red onion, diced or sliced
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ½ cup burger sauce
  • Burger Sauce:
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup sweet relish
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef in a medium skillet over medium heat, breaking it up while it cooks. Season with salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
  2. Drain excess grease from the beef.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and cheddar cheese; allow cheese to melt.
  4. In a bowl or plate, layer chopped lettuce, cooked beef, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, avocado, and shredded cheese.
  5. Drizzle with burger sauce (or dressing of choice) before serving.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for best flavor; allow it to brown undisturbed initially.
  • Layer warm beef with cheese first, then cool toppings, sauce goes last.
  • Customize with other sauces if desired (ranch, blue cheese, etc.).
  • Meal prep: cook beef ahead, chop toppings separately, and store sauce in an airtight container for 5–7 days.
  • Reheat beef before serving and add fresh toppings afterward for best texture.
