Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 6 slices frozen garlic Texas toast
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onions are soft. Drain excess grease.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- While the sauce simmers, bake the garlic toast according to package instructions until golden and crisp.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice of garlic toast. Top with shredded cheddar and return to oven for 2-3 minutes to melt cheese.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides like salad, roasted veggies, or potato wedges.
Notes
- Use thick garlic toast for best results—it won’t get soggy.
- Make the meat filling ahead for easier meal prep.
- Swap cheddar with provolone or pepper jack for variety.
