Ingredients
Scale
For the Teriyaki Sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4–1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, adjust as desired
For the Stir Fry
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 3 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
- 1 cup shredded carrots
- 4–5 green onions, chopped
- Sea salt, to taste
Instructions
- Whisk together all of the sauce ingredients and set aside. Chop and prepare the vegetables.
- Heat a large skillet or wok to medium-high heat. Add the sesame oil to the skillet. Add in the ground beef and heat until fully cooked (160°F internal temperature), about 6–8 minutes.
- Add in the broccoli, green onion, and carrots and cook until heated through and tender.
- Change the heat to low and stir in the Teriyaki sauce. Simmer for several minutes until ready to serve and allow the sauce to thicken.
- Serve over rice or as desired! Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3–4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
- Always use a meat thermometer as the best way to check beef’s temperature. Ground beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F.
- Color is not always a reliable indicator of doneness.
- You can double the sauce ingredients for a super saucy dish.
- If you like your stir fry extra saucy, I advise you to double the teriyaki sauce. Save some to add to other recipes as well.
