- For the Jerk Steak & Shrimp
- 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into cubes
- 12–15 shrimp, peeled & deveined
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp jerk seasoning (mild or hot)
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- For the Tropical Yellow Rice
- 2 cups cooked rice
- 1 tsp turmeric or 1 packet Sazón with annatto
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Season the Steak:
Toss steak cubes with jerk seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. - Sear the Steak:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add steak cubes and sear 3–4 minutes per side until browned and caramelized. Remove and set aside. - Cook the Shrimp:
In the same skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter. Season shrimp lightly with salt & pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred. Remove and set aside. - Sauté the Veggies:
Add the remaining butter. Cook peppers and onions 5–7 minutes until soft and caramelized. - Make the Yellow Rice:
Mix cooked rice with turmeric (or Sazón), butter, and salt. Stir until rice turns bright yellow and fragrant. - Assemble the Plate:
Spread yellow rice onto a platter or bowls. Top with jerk steak, shrimp, and sautéed peppers & onions. Drizzle with any pan juices.
Notes
- Use hot jerk seasoning for extra heat.
- Add pineapple chunks for a sweeter tropical twist.
- Great with lime wedges or fresh cilantro on top.
