  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 3–4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Jerk Steak & Shrimp
  • 1 lb steak (sirloin or ribeye), cut into cubes
  • 12–15 shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp jerk seasoning (mild or hot)
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • For the Tropical Yellow Rice
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 tsp turmeric or 1 packet Sazón with annatto
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the Steak:
Toss steak cubes with jerk seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Sear the Steak:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add steak cubes and sear 3–4 minutes per side until browned and caramelized. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the Shrimp:
In the same skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter. Season shrimp lightly with salt & pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred. Remove and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Veggies:
Add the remaining butter. Cook peppers and onions 5–7 minutes until soft and caramelized.
  5. Make the Yellow Rice:
Mix cooked rice with turmeric (or Sazón), butter, and salt. Stir until rice turns bright yellow and fragrant.
  6. Assemble the Plate:
Spread yellow rice onto a platter or bowls. Top with jerk steak, shrimp, and sautéed peppers & onions. Drizzle with any pan juices.

Notes

  • Use hot jerk seasoning for extra heat.
  • Add pineapple chunks for a sweeter tropical twist.
  • Great with lime wedges or fresh cilantro on top.
