- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, pickles (optional)
- Mayonnaise, mustard, or ketchup (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare mushrooms: Melt butter in a skillet, sauté mushrooms (and onions if using) for 5–7 minutes until golden. Set aside.
- Form burger patties: Divide beef into 4 portions, shape patties, season with salt and pepper.
- Cook burgers: Cook patties 3–4 min per side (medium), add Swiss cheese during last minute and cover to melt.
- Toast buns: Lightly toast buns until golden.
- Assemble burgers: Spread condiments, layer lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheesy patty, sautéed mushrooms and onions. Serve immediately.

- Use 80/20 ground beef for juicier burgers.
