- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms
- 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup ketchup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook bacon until crispy, then crumble.
- Sauté onions and mushrooms until softened. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine beef, pork, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan, bacon, Swiss cheese, onions, mushrooms, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp ketchup, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
- Shape mixture into a loaf in a greased baking dish. Spread remaining ketchup over top.
- Bake 60-70 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

- Pounding is unnecessary; sautéed vegetables and cheese keep it moist.
- Optional: add fresh herbs or a splash of balsamic vinegar for extra flavor.
