- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
Instructions
- Prepare the Classic Waffle Batter: whisk dry ingredients in a bowl, then whisk wet ingredients in another. Combine until just mixed.
- Prepare the Red Velvet Batter: whisk dry ingredients in a bowl, then whisk wet ingredients and food coloring in another. Combine until just mixed.
- Preheat your waffle iron.
- Create the Marbled Effect: lightly grease the iron. Pour small amounts of each batter and swirl with a toothpick.
- Cook the waffles according to manufacturer’s instructions until golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve warm with toppings such as whipped cream, fresh berries, or maple syrup.
