- 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (for sauce)
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for sauce)
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for onions)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Toss beef strips in the marinade and let sit 10–15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onions until soft and slightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper, then remove from pan.
- Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in the same pan over high heat. Stir-fry marinated beef strips for 2–3 minutes until browned.
- Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a small bowl. Pour over beef and simmer until thickened.
- Add sautéed onions back into the pan, stirring to combine.
- Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
- Use flank steak for a leaner option.
- Adjust spice level by adding red pepper flakes or Szechuan peppercorns.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
