Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
  4. Divide batter between pans and bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  5. Whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  6. Place one cake layer on a plate. Spread half the whipped cream and top with strawberries. Add the second cake layer and repeat with remaining cream and strawberries.
  7. Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 2 hours.
