  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g beef (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water. Mix well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add the beef in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same wok, add the remaining oil. Toss in sliced onions and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly softened and lightly caramelized.
  4. Add garlic and ginger, stirring quickly until fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the wok and stir everything together. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and onions.
  6. Drizzle sesame oil and sprinkle black pepper over the dish. Toss to combine.
  7. Serve hot over steamed white rice.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • Cook on high heat for best wok-seared flavor.
  • Add chili flakes or fresh chilies if you prefer spice.
