- 12 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 8 oz deli ham, thinly sliced
- 8 oz deli turkey, thinly sliced
- 8 oz Swiss cheese, sliced
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Raspberry jam, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with some of the melted butter.
- Place 6 slices of bread in the bottom of the dish.
- Layer half of the ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread.
- Add remaining bread slices, then top with remaining ham, turkey, and cheese.
- Whisk eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until smooth.
- Pour egg mixture evenly over casserole, pressing gently so bread absorbs liquid.
- Drizzle remaining melted butter on top.
- Cover and rest for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake 15–20 minutes until golden and set.
- Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with raspberry jam.
Notes
- Challah or brioche bread adds extra richness.
- Can be assembled the night before and baked in the morning.
- Add spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
